As you know, the federal government is changing at the behest of the new Presidential Administration, which has ordered massive cuts in both the number of federal employees and contracts. This will have a significant impact on both Loudoun County and Northern Virginia as a whole, leading to many residents being displaced and requiring numerous forms of assistance.
We have put together a list of resources for federal employees who have been affected by the layoffs. Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you need additional support or assistance navigating these resources.
Healthcare Services
Enroll Virginia is a network of community-based organizations committed to helping Virginians access high-quality, affordable health coverage. The following includes fact sheets, state resources, and a link to the Virginia Employment Commission, where you can file an unemployment claim.
Finding New Opportunities
Local business groups and companies are actively working to hire federal employees due to their experience and dedication to excellence. The Loudoun Workforce Resource Center provides no-cost resources and equipment to both job seekers and businesses. The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce offers a variety of career-building tools, networking opportunities, and professional development programs. If you require assistance with career transition, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) provides resources for federal employees seeking new employment.
Issues with Federal Agencies and Services
While I will do everything in my power to assist federal employees recovering from the layoffs, there is an extent to which I can assist. Anything dealing with the federal government or federal casework must be done by Congressman Suhas Subramanyam, Senator Mark Warner, or Senator Tim Kaine . If you are having issues with a federal agency or program, please contact our federal representatives through the links below:
How My Office Can Help You
Navigating state agencies can be confusing and difficult at times. As your delegate, I can help you communicate with state agencies such as the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC), Departments of Taxation, Social Services, Transportation, and more! I can also submit inquiries with those agencies on your behalf and help you engage with the state agency you need. There are limits to what I can do, however. For example, I am unable to expedite cases or force state agencies to favor your inquiry, provide legal advice or recommend a specific attorney, intervene with judicial issues, overturn decisions, or be involved with matters involving private businesses.
Whether you want to bring an issue to my attention, need my office’s assistance, or want to invite me to a community event, please reach out! If there is any way I can assist you, please let me know here: https://atoosareaser.com/help/.
