There is always a lot happening in our district, and August was no exception. From community events to conversations with local leaders to the early groundwork for the 2027 legislative session, the month moved quickly and September will, too! Representing this district means staying close to what matters most to the people here, and the Reaser Report is my way of bringing you along for some of it; not just what happened, but why it matters for our community. Energy Costs Listening Tour Comes to Loudoun
Join us for a chance to talk directly about the proposed merger between Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy, filed in July. What is at stake? Dominion is currently headquartered in Richmond, Virginia and NextEra Energy is based in Florida. If the $67 million merger is approved, NextEra shareholders would hold about 75% of the shares of the combined company. I expressed my concerns about a Virginia utility that powers our homes, schools, and small business being controlled by an out-of-state corporation with different priorities from the beginning:
The State Corporation Commission’s six-month review clock started when Dominion filed its application in July, and written comments on the case (PUR-2026-00112) are due by November 9, 2026. I have repeatedly called on the SCC to allow YOU and all interested parties to give comments in-person with regional hearings, but there is currently no plan to do so. See my letters here:

IACC Commending Resolution Presentation
I’m looking forward to joining the Iranian-American Community Center for Shab-e Sham-e Mahali on September 9, 2026, at Pars Place in Vienna. I’ll be there to present the Virginia House of Delegate’s Commending Resolution formally recognizing the Community Center and its contributions. I hope you’ll join me for an evening centered around delicious food, community, and a celebration of the culture and heritage that make our Commonwealth stronger.

Community Updates
Earlier in the month, I had the opportunity to meet with the board and staff at Falcons Landing to discuss updates to their community, including plans for an affordable housing project in the coming years. It was a valuable opportunity to hear directly about the needs of seniors and the ways the General Assembly can continue supporting them. I’m grateful to Falcons Landing for generously offering their facility as a location for future office hours.
Finally, August meant saying goodbye to our summer interns. It is always a pleasure to welcome students into the office, and their fresh perspectives are an important part of the work we do. A special thank you to Charles, Saba, and Reagan for all of their hard work this summer. My office will certainly miss having them here, and I’m grateful for everything they contributed!

Preparing For 2027 Legislative Session
It may feel like the last legislative session just ended, but my office has already been hard at work preparing for the 2027 legislative session. Throughout August, I had the opportunity to meet with local leaders, experts, and stakeholders to discuss ideas for the coming year and explore ways we can continue addressing issues affecting both our district and communities across the Commonwealth. One of those conversations was with Secretary Williams, Virginia’s Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs, and his staff, where we discussed areas of interest for the upcoming session and opportunities to better support our service members and veterans.
Boys and Men Advisory Commission
The Virginia Boys and Men Advisory Commission second convening had multiple presentations on the state of male employment in Virginia and the opportunities available to strengthen pathways into the workforce. We heard about the challenges some men face in finding and maintaining employment, particularly those without advanced education, those with disabilities, and those affected by changes in specific industries. We also discussed the importance of expanding opportunities in fields where men are underrepresented, including nursing and other growing career sectors.
Fortunately, Virginia already has strong tools available to help close these gaps. The Commission heard from Virginia Works, the Virginia Community College System, and New Horizons Regional Education Center about programs connecting people with job training, apprenticeships, career services, and hands-on experience. From earn-while-you-learn apprenticeships to workforce training and partnerships that connect students directly with employers, these programs are helping Virginians build practical skills and find meaningful work.
On September 18th, the Virginia Advisory Commission for Men and Boys and the Virginia Coalition for Boys and Men will host The Virginia Blueprint: A Summit Advancing Men and Boys at the Virginia General Assembly. This one-day summit will bring together educators, program leaders, social workers, clinicians, coaches, mentors, advocates, fathers, and others who are already doing the work to support boys and men. I’m looking forward to seeing the people doing this work come together to share ideas, learn from one another, and leave with practical solutions they can bring back to their communities. Appointment to the NCSL Military Veterans Affairs Task Force
I’m honored to have been appointed to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Military and Veterans Affairs Task Force. The task force brings legislators from across the country together to examine issues affecting military-community relations and the health and well-being of service members, veterans, and their families, including military-community partnerships, development near military installations, veteran employment, and benefits for military families. I’m looking forward to bringing Virginia’s perspective to these conversations, learning from legislators across the country, and putting those relationships and ideas to work here in the Commonwealth.

Navigating state agencies can be confusing and difficult at times. As the delegate for House District 27, I can help you communicate with state agencies such as the Virginia Employment Commission, Departments of Taxation, Social Services, Transportation, and more! I can also submit inquiries with those agencies on your behalf. There are limits to what I can do, however. For example, I am unable to expedite cases or force state agencies to favor your inquiry, provide legal advice or recommend a specific attorney, intervene with judicial issues, overturn decisions, or be involved with matters between private businesses.
