May the Fourth be with you! I wish you all good Luke in May. Session might be over, but that does not mean I am Leia-ing down for a nap! My team and I have been hard at work for the district, it is a job I can’t do Han Solo! But enough with the Star Wars puns, welcome to this week’s Reaser Report, I hope you have a wookie of a week!
Governor’s Final Actions on 2025 Legislation
May 2, 2025, was the final deadline for the governor to take action on any remaining pieces of legislation from the 2025 legislative session. With his action deadline, this means that we now have the final totals from this year’s session. The list goes as follows:
• 3107 Bills were introduced this year (including House and Senate resolutions and joint resolutions)
• 727 Bills were signed into law
• 196 Bills were vetoed
Alongside his final actions on the general legislation, the Governor has signed the budget for the 2025-2026 biennium. This is a family-first budget aimed at unleashing Virginia’s potential. This budget delivers tax cuts on working families, lowers costs, increases funding for public education, invests in public safety, and so much more. While there is still so much work to do, this budget is a major step in the right direction. With recent changes in the federal workforce and funding, the General Assembly may be called back into special session to address some of the concerns listed here. If a special session is called, we will let you know! The best way to get real-time updates is to follow me on social media (@atoosareaser).
Other important bills that were signed into law include bills that protect consumers from hidden fees, reform the pharmacy benefits managers industry, and modernize our SOL testing system and reform our standardized testing. We also made history as the first state to pass a one-hour social media law for minors.
2025 Primary Early Voting
Early voting for the June primary started on May 2, 2025. To register to vote, update your voter registration, order an absentee ballot, or review where your polling locations are, visit the Department of Elections’ website.
Early voting will run until June 14, 2025. During the final week, additional satellite locations will open up across the county. Be on the lookout for additional information regarding these locations as we get closer to those dates.
Applications for Service Academy Nominations
Every year, federal representatives nominate Virginians throughout the Commonwealth for the U.S. Military service academies. This includes West Point (Army), the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Coast Guard Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy. As we head into the summer, our federal representatives (Senator Warner, Senator Kaine, and Congressman Subramanyam) will begin opening up applications for these nominations. Each office has its own protocol, rules, and deadlines for its applications. If you or someone you know is interested in attending a service academy, these recommendations help provide a strong endorsement for Virginians committed to serving our nation. My office has put together a resource list for Loudoun County, including state and local relief options for those who have been recently laid off. We will work to update this list with additional services as necessary. Click on the button below to view our page on Resources for Federal Workers.

One of my greatest honors as a Delegate is being able to celebrate residents of HD-27 who have displayed local, state, or national distinction through resolutions. My office can put in commending and memorial resolutions during the primary legislative session or a special session. If you know someone or a community organization in the district that you think deserves special recognition, please fill out the form below, and a member of my team will reach out to speak about the request.
Navigating state agencies can be confusing and difficult at times. As your delegate, I can help you communicate with state agencies such as the Virginia Employment Commission, Departments of Taxation, Social Services, Transportation, and more! I can also submit inquiries with those agencies on your behalf and help you engage with the state agency you need. There are limits to what I can do, however. For example, I am unable to expedite cases or force state agencies to favor your inquiry, provide legal advice or recommend a specific attorney, intervene with judicial issues, overturn decisions, or be involved with matters involving private businesses.
Whether you want to bring an issue to my attention, need my office’s assistance, or want to invite me to a community event, please reach out! If there is any way I can assist you, please let me know here: https://atoosareaser.com/help/.
