Be sure to vote at your assigned precinct! You can find your voting precinct here: Virginia Department of Elections

Thank you for voting! And DON’T GUESS – VOTE YES!

In Richmond

Governor Spanberger Signs Bills

Governor Abigail Spanberger has signed ALL of the legislation that I introduced and passed through the House and Senate chambers, during the 2026 Session. You can read about them all of them here!

The Reconvene and Special Session

After each regular or special session, the General Assembly reconvenes in Richmond on the sixth Wednesday following adjournment — this year, April 22nd — to consider bills returned by the Governor with amendments or objections. During the Reconvene Session, business is limited solely to the Governor’s recommendations: legislators vote to accept or reject proposed amendments and may override vetoes with a two-thirds majority in both chambers. No other business is taken up, and while the session is typically completed in one day, it may last up to three days.

This year, we will also convene a Special Session as called by Governor Spanberger to resolve differences between the budgets passed by each chamber. Bills that are approved — either through accepted amendments or a successful veto override — generally take effect on July 1, 2026.

Senator Warner’s Re-Election Kickoff Event

I was honored to introduce Senator Mark Warner at his re-election kickoff. As the first Iranian American elected to state-level office in Virginia, I know firsthand how much is at stake when American foreign policy and diplomacy are handled with care and competence. At a time of rising tensions with Iran and growing instability across the region, we cannot afford to have anything less than seasoned, serious leadership representing us in Washington. Mark Warner brings exactly that!

Now more than ever, Virginia needs a Senator with the experience, judgment, and moral clarity to navigate an increasingly complex world. As the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner has spent years at the forefront of our nation’s most critical national security challenges, and that expertise matters deeply to me on a personal level.  I have had the privilege of watching him interact directly with small business owners, young adults, and everyday Virginians at events across the Commonwealth, and what strikes me every time is how genuinely and intently he listens. He doesn’t just show up; he engages, he absorbs, and he takes people seriously. That combination of high-level experience and authentic, grounded leadership is exactly what Virginia deserves so I am proud to stand behind his re-election.

Policy Work Student Projects

One of the most rewarding parts of this work is seeing the next generation engage with the legislative process firsthand. I recently had the privilege of sitting down with Saanvi (pictured below) to hear about her work on youth policy — and I left genuinely impressed by her dedication, thoughtfulness, and civic drive. Her commitment to public service reflects exactly the kind of engagement our community should be proud of, and I look forward to following her progress.

To any students reading this: the doors of my office are always open. Whether you have questions about how a bill becomes law, want feedback on a policy idea, or simply want to learn more about public service, please don’t hesitate to reach out. And if you’re interested in gaining hands-on experience through an internship with our office, we’d love to hear from you — send us an email and let’s start the conversation. Investing in the next generation of leaders is one of the true privileges of this work, and I take it seriously.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time to honor the courage of survivors, raise awareness, and push for meaningful change. In that spirit, I am proud to share that my bill, HB1020, recently passed the General Assembly, allowing survivors of child sexual assault to pursue civil causes of action when new evidence emerges — a significant step toward accountability and justice.

To continue that momentum, I hope you will consider joining two upcoming events hosted by Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter (LAWS).. On Saturday, April 25th from 6–8PM, LAWS will hold their fourth annual Take Back the Night event at Blend Coffee Bar, featuring keynote speakers, an open mic, community resources, a candlelight vigil, and more — no prior registration required for survivors. Then on Sunday, April 26th, LAWS and the Courage Closet will host their seventh annual Courage Day 5K at Franklin Park in Purcellville, with all proceeds going toward supporting survivors. See the flyers below for more details!

Together, let’s celebrate resilience, demand justice, and show survivors they are not alone.

How My Office Can Help

Navigating state agencies can be confusing and difficult at times. As the delegate for House District 27, I can help you communicate with state agencies such as the Virginia Employment Commission, Departments of Taxation, Social Services, Transportation, and more! I can also submit inquiries with those agencies on your behalf. There are limits to what I can do, however. For example, I am unable to expedite cases or force state agencies to favor your inquiry, provide legal advice or recommend a specific attorney, intervene with judicial issues, overturn decisions, or be involved with matters between private businesses.

Whether you require my office’s assistance, want to bring an issue to my attention or invite me to a community event, please reach out here: https://atoosareaser.com/help/.

Alongside constituent services, I can submit drafts for commending and memorial resolutions. If you know of a person or organization in the district that deserves special recognition, please submit a request here: resolution request form.

Yours in Service,
